Tournament Rules

 



1. The T.C. will determine the time and location of each tournament.
Each tournament will be discussed and voted on within the committee.
Day tournaments shall not exceed 10 hours and night tournaments shall
not exceed 8 hours.

2. Boats will start the tournament based on the position drawn at the
previous meeting. Late entries will start at the rear on draw tournaments,
but the last boat drawn at the meeting will be the starter boat on draw
tournaments. Some tournaments may be honor starts with fishing to begin
at tournament start time. Trailing is permitted, but you must be at the
ramp for take-off if it is a draw tournament.

3. All legal fish will be measured, weighed and documented by the
tournament committee. All bass will be handled with care and released,
except in the case of a trophy fish.

4. The creel limit will be 5 fish per person, unless stated otherwise. Fish
culling must take place at the time of catching the sixth fish.

5. The minimum length is 12”, unless stated otherwise by state regulation. Fish
will be measured mouth closed, mouth on a golden rule board. Fish brought
to the scales more than ¼” short of the limit will result in a 8oz . penalty.
A 1/2 pound dead fish penalty will be reported on each dead fish.

6. Fish should be brought to the scales in bags, and each participant must use his
own bag. All cull tags shall be removed before bringing fish to weigh in.

7. Everyone must be at weigh in by designated time. Each participant will be
penalized 2 ounces per minute up to 15 minutes. Person arriving over the
15 minutes late will be disqualified.

8. Only artificial lures may be used with the exception of pork trailers. Only
1 rod may be used at a time and no trolling is allowed.

9. All participants must wear a USCG approved life preserver when the boat
is on plane, and it must be attached to the kill switch.

10. Any questions or rules infraction, concerning a tournament, will be addressed
to the T.C. Chairman within 30 minutes of the end of the tournament. T.C.
decisions will be made in a prompt manner and results made final.

11. Points will be awarded for each points tournament as follows 1 st – 100
2 nd – 99 3 rd – 98 Etc – 1 bonus point will be awarded for each largemouth
5 lbs or over, each smallmouth 4 lbs or over, and spots 3 lbs or over. And 1
bonus point will be awarded to overall Big Fish. 1 additional point will be awarded
for each club meeting attended, with a maximum of 7 annually. The best 7 scores
out of 10 count or 8 scores out of 12 count for the ear, depending on tournaments
scheduled.

12. There are 2 participation options:
Option 1
-Tournament participation fees are $100.00 (encouraged to do so up front)
or $10.00 per tournament paid at the tournament. This includes Angler of the Year
award, but not Gift Certificate.
Option 2- Tournament entry fees are $200 per person up front or $20.00 per tournament
paid at the tournament. This includes Angler of the Year award, Gift Certificate, Gas Cards.
A member may fish 1 tournament per year with the same guest. Guests are eligible for
tournament prizes, but no year end awards. Both can go to the Best of the Best
Tournament, but only Tournament entry fee ($200.00) participants will get financial
support from the club.

13. 1st place award per tournament is a $25 gift certificate per person, per tournament and a $25
gas card per boat. Also, a $25 gift certificate will be drawn from the people who participated in the
tournament at the next meeting.

14. The tournament committee may schedule “draw for partner” tournament per year.
We encourage bringing a guest to this tournament, but you may also put in to draw
with members or fish alone. To help encourage guest participation , the first place
participant(s) will reserve a $100 gift certificate each.

15. The use of cell phones, walkie-talkie, or any communication device to gain fishing
information is prohibited.

16. Awards for the top 6 Anglers and Big Bass of the Year will be given at a year end
banquet (or club meeting). The top 6 Anglers may be eligible for expenses up to a total
of $100 per person into the “Best of the Best Tournament” the following year. If any of
these Anglers decline participation, the next Angler(s) in order of year end finish will
have the opportunity to have paid entry to the tournament. Angler of the year will
receive a $100.00 gift certificate.

17. Any changes or cancellations in a tournament, will be determined by a majority
of the T.C. If the decision is a tie, the president will cast the deciding vote.

18. The optional Big Fish entry will be $10. The prize certificate will be awarded at
the meeting following the tournament(s), beginning at the March meeting. The number
of participants will decide the award for the season. For example, if 25 people sign up,
then the tournament award would be $25. You must sign up prior to the tournament to
be eligible. If a non-participating member catches the Big Fish, no prize will be awarded
and remaining values will not increase.

19. The T.C. may schedule 1 open tournament annually with a 5 fish per boat limit.
This would be done to increase club exposure and increase membership. Points
for members would be based on order of finish, minus boats of non-members. If both
people are members, they both receive the same score. Example– Member with non
member finishes 2 nd to a boat of non members, that member would receive 100
pts. The next finishing member(s) would receive a 99, and so on. Club Big Fish points
and awards would still apply, if caught by a member.

20. Members under 16 will pay $10 annual dues and this will also cover big fish participation ...   Tournaments entry fee for full participation is only $10 per tournament.
